Sadly, the world has lost a great writer and anyone who has read Oliver Sacks’ books will remember his wonderful writing on all things medical and musical. Oliver Sacks was a physician, best-selling author, and professor of neurology at the NYU School of Medicine. He wrote many books, including Musicophilia, Awakenings, and The Man Who Mistook His Wife For A Hat. He explored some of the brain’s strangest pathways using his patients’ disorders as starting points for eloquent meditations on consciousness and the human condition. He died on Sunday at his home in Manhattan. He was 82.
